“Maker’s Mash” Features Junk Monsters, Costume Contest
The Learning Center’s annual “Up-cycled Monster Makers Contest,” challenged students, parents and teachers to build a 3D monster out of junk and used materials that might end up in a landfill and recycling them into wild, wacky, creative (and sometimes useful) art. In addition, the “Makers Mash Costume Contest” inspired contestants to create handmade outfits to wear to school on Monday, October 31st. Both contests were awarded cash prizes to the winners in each division:
Division 1: Star Wars theme
Division 2: Traditional Halloween Costume Division 3: Up-cycled Costume
Contestants in The Up-cycled Monster Makers Contest were challenged to spend as little money as possible with only two requirements: that no monsters could be over 6 feet tall and monsters must not actually eat children!
