9 String Theory Concert at TLC
On Monday, November 2, 2015, TLC was special host to 9 String Theory. This duo is a unique musical collaboration of Russian domra virtuoso Angelina Galashenkova-Reed and award-winning American classical guitarist John Huston.
Galashenkova-Reed is acknowledged as among the greatest living virtuosos of the domra, the 3-stringed Russian folk instrument akin to the lute and ancestor of the balalaika. Dating back over 1,000 years, the domra is a major component of Russian Gypsy music. John Huston is a rising star among young American musicians, hailed already as one of the most exciting and expressive guitarists of his generation.
Together these Atlanta-based artists create acoustic sounds that surprise and delight, music of great variety and intensity, evoking musical traditions ancient and modern reflecting the world’s diverse musical culture. A 9 String Theory concert has been described as “a musical trip around the world, featuring Latin American rhythms, Russian Gypsy fire, Spanish flamenco, echoes of Eastern Europe, and songs from America.”
